For all you ladies out there attending a typically sunny university, perhaps one on the west coast, here are some great tips on how to stay up on the latest fashion trends that suit your city’s weather conditions!
First of all, when dressing yourself for various occasions it is important to keep in mind what exactly fashion is. By dictionary definition, fashion (noun) is a prevailing custom or style of dress, etiquette, socializing, etc. This is important for a woman to understand because fashion is not simply what clothes you put on in the morning, but it is also how you carry yourself. Fashion incorporates your attitude and how you hold yourself, whether you go out feeling sassy or sophisticated, it’s all a part of fashion.
Now in my definition, fashion is a way of life and expression of character. It’s fun and easy to make your personal flare on the current fashion trends of your new college city, just remember to express yourself!
Walk a college campus and you’ll see a variety of fashion choices, from people repping school colors and logos to girls in dresses and heels to people in jeans and v-necks with a hipster flare. A great thing about fashion in college is that there are so many options and so many chances to be uniquely you!
However, a college in the sun allows for a few fun trendy items in particular that no girl should go without!
Item 1: Baggy tees and crop tops. Oversized shirts for girls are so easy to wear and make unique! Match it with a long, layered necklace, or a patterned scarf! Baggy shirts are easy to disguise with multiple outfits, making them a great thing to have in your wardrobe so you can wear them over and over!
Crop tops and off-the-shoulder tees are even better to own when living in the sun because they chicly mix fashion with a way to not overheat!
Item 2: High-waisted cut-off shorts. This article of clothing for every girl in the sun to own! First of all, these shorts will make your legs look like they go on for days and your waist look tiny! Secondly, these shorts can be made even more stylish with acid wash, bleach spots, colors, or patterns! Basically, shorts will keep you cool on campus while making your outfit pop!
Item 3: Wedges. Sandals can get boring and boots can get a bit sweaty…my suggestion, wedges will spice up a casual outfit as well as give a dress an elegant flare. Wedges can come in so many styles, patterns, and materials that they can be matched with essentially any outfit! My favorite pair are high wedges, peep toe, brown suede. They can be summery or sophisticated!
Colleges in the sun are convenient for hipster and bohemiem beach styles! Sometimes so many simple items can create a unique and quirky wardrobe!
