Casual Attire
Depending on where you are in the country, and what your personal style is, casual attire will mean something different to everyone. However in most cases, usually getting dressed for a day of class is different then in high school. Hot Weather
When it’s really hot out, don’t hesitate to wear work-out attire to class. Of course, try to keep it cute with coordinated outfits. Basic nike running shorts are a college girls essential. This might also motivate you to hit the gym after hitting the books.
If you feel like catching someones eye, try a cute dress or shorts with a top you would normally wear out to a party.
Chillier Weather
On those cold mornings, getting ready for an 8am class probably doesn’t sound so appealing to some. While you might be tempted to throw on same baggy sweat pants, think twice about the image your giving off. If you don’t care, go for it! Plenty of people wear their pjs to class. However if you still want to look cute and comfy, invest in a few nice pairs of yoga pants. They are comfortable, warm, and easy to pair with anything, like a pair of uggs and a northface jacket or even a more fashionable top.
If it’s really cold where you are headed off to, consider getting a down jacket to wear over a regular outfit, that way you can avoid taking off 5 layers once you get to your heated classroom.
Weekend Attire
Once again, appropriate attire will be determined by the area of the country you are going to school. If you are unaware of the level of formality of your school or greek system, either bring a lot of options or plan on shopping after you get situated.
Going Out
The most necessary item in your closet for next year is the basic black high waisted skirt. This item can be paired with almost any top, can be dressed down or up, and worn again and again. A cute pair of boots to wear with skirts is also recommended for the colder months, and heels in which you can actually walk in for the warmer ones. Don’t forget textured tights!
For tops, I wouldn’t recommend spending a lot of money. Try tops from places like Forever 21 that are on trend, but you wont cry when they get stained with beer, cause believe me it happens all the time.
Don’t forget to bring any costume wear you own, fraternity’s throw parties with the craziest themes, and you don’t want to regret leaving your overalls at home when theres a barn dance.
Sorority Events
Be prepared to have a lot of events in which you will be required to look your best. Unless your homecoming/prom dresses are super trendy, you probably want to leave them at home. Don’t wear anything that looks like you bought it in the prom season section at JC Pennys. You don’t want to show up at your sorority looking like you missed your limo ride to the high school gym. A little black dress is always a must, and you can wear it more then once without drawing too much attention to the repeat. Look for nice, classy pieces that are on trend, and still show a little skin.
